Changes to Weapons Classes – spaces available

Change to the Leadership Programme

As you know, we currently run a 6-month rotation on the Leadership / Weapons programme.  After reviewing this and with feedback from various parties, I have decided to change the content of this programme.  The aim of this is to:

  1. Continue to offer variations outside of the normal MF programm
  2. Use the classes to add greater benefit to your normal Junior / Adult classes

Consequently, the Leadership / Weapons programme will consist of the following monthly rotation:

–               Weapons skills

–               Street self-defence & board breaking

–               Fitness training

–               Forms training

–               Championship / Sparring training

–               Grading preparation

–               Guest instructors

You will be informed what is coming up next a month in advance:

March    –               Bokken

April       –               Championship / Sparring training

The cost for this refreshed programme will remain the same. To continue in this class you do not need to do anything.  If you are new to the programme please see below.

Special Leadership Uniform:

Students who are part of the Leadership / Weapons Programme are still able to wear the MF Black uniform.

Who can join the Leadership Programme?

To enrol onto the Leadership Programme students must:

  • Be 7yrs and above
  • Show the correct attitude and focus in class

NOTE:    Places will be limited for this special programme due to safety and insurance reasons.  If places become available students may join once they have been personally invited and recommended to do so by their instructor.

Maidstone            –               Friday                     6:00pm

Staplehurst          –               Thursday               7:30pm

April – school closures

Due to the Easter weekend and a National Instructor Training weekend the following class closures will be in effect:

  • Saturday, 1st April (Herne)
  • Sunday, 2nd April (Canterbury)
  • Friday, 14th April (Maidstone)
  • Saturday, 15th April (Herne)
  • Sunday, 16th April (Canterbury)

There will be no classes on these dates.  Please feel free to attend any other schools / classes to make up for missed classes.  For class information please e-mail kent@mattfiddes.com

March Grading – tag-testing

Tag-testing commencing Monday, 27th February onwards

The first Grading day of 2017 is fast upon us and I am so excited to see you all work so hard towards your next goal, whatever that may be.

The first Grading for 2017 is:

 

 

 

 

Sunday, 19th March 2017 (Simon Langton Boys School, Canterbury)

  • Mighty Matts: 0930hrs
  • Juniors & Adults: 1015hrs
  • Panel Grading (Red-Stripe & above): 1200hrs

If you have been awarded your black tag you will also be given a letter explaining what you need to do next.  If you have not been awarded your black tag you have no need to worry.  There is no rush and everyone progresses at different speeds.

You can now view the class schedules for all of our schools by downloading the MF Kent 2017 Class timetable from the student login section of our website.  It can be found in the “other” section from the drop-down menu.

*please note there is a change to the timetable for Staplehurst during the school holidays.

School Half-Term – classes as normal

Just a reminder that all of our classes will be running as normal with the exception of our Staplehurst School (please see below).

With the first Grading of 2017 looming it is important to train consistently and with the same effort and energy.

Staplehurst Village Centre, North Hall

  • Mighty Matts & Juniors: 4:00 – 4:45pm
  • Seniors: 4:45 – 5:30pm

2017 MF Kent Diary available to download

The 2017 diary is now available to download from the student login section of our website (Please select the “Events” section from the drop-down menu).

The Grading Dates are confirmed but we are still awaiting confirmation from the venues. They will definitely be held either in Canterbury or Maidstone as per 2016.

For Junior Instructors please keep an eye out for your training dates – we are working on either different venues or a change to the training schedule.

Welcome back

Welcome back and Happy New Year to you all. I hope that you had a wonderful time with family & friends and are well-rested.

All MF Kent classes are fully up and running as of today and I am very excited about what 2017 has to offer for you all. Our school club work will commence from Monday, 9th January.

The 2017 diary will be published today in the student login section of this website so please keep and eye out and make note of any dates that may apply.

As usual, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me and I look forward to seeing you all back in class working towards your next goal, whatever they may be.

New school opening in Ashford – January, 2017

We are delighted to announce the opening of a brand new school in Ashford, Kent.  As part of our MF Kent family we are delighted to be teaching from Ashford Oaks Primary School who are also very excited.  As part of this we will be working very closely with the school to share the benefits of Martial Arts within the community.

At this location we will be teaching every Tuesday:

Mighty Matts (3-6yrs): 5:00pm

Family (7yrs+): 5:45pm

There will be an OPEN EVENING on Tuesday, 10th January and we hope as many of you as possible will be able to join us for our launch night.

Colour-belt Grading – 11th December

From today we will start tag-testing for the Colour-belt Grading being held on Sunday, 11th December (Canterbury).

For those students who we believe are ready to move up to the next level we will tag them and hand out the information needed for the day and homework.  All forms are available to download from the student login section of the website.

This is the last Grading for 2016 so I am sure it will be an exciting event and a wonderful way to close 2016.  For those students who are not quite ready we will be releasing the 2017 diary very soon so we can work with you to plan your next goal.

Christmas shut-down period

After a long and eventful year it is nearly time to unwind, relax and spend time with our loved ones.  as we do each year, we close all classes through the festive period to give us all time to recharge and also plan for 2017.

Our festive timetable is as follows:

Last classes of 2016: Sunday, 18th December

First classes of 2017: Wednesday, 4th January

There will be no classes during this period.  All classes will run as normal outside of these dates.
