Southern Championships

After lots of hard work and dedication we found ourselves at the 2013 Southern Championships with our largest ever competition team ready for action. This was also to be the largest Southern Championships with 211 competitors from schools all over the South of England, so we knew it was going to be tough but very exciting!
I think it is fair to say that as a team we were fantastic! Every single person tried their very best and certainly came away with plenty of experience and wonderful memories. As a team I feel we conducted ourselves with true sportsmanship and compassion and for that I am truly proud of everyone.
After the dust settled we came home with an amazing 23 trophies and some very well deserved top 5 places. Every single student can be extremely proud of what was achieved. There may have been plenty of medals but we trained as a team, we competed as a team, we helped one another as a team and we can celebrate as a team.
I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the MF Kent Instructors who have given up so much of their time and energy in preparing everyone and for supporting and helping so well on the day. In addition, the amazing support, enthusiasm and dedication from family members and friends who came along on the day and brought their children and friends along to each training session.
What a wonderful family we all are!

We are very excited to announce that the world famous Bruce Sistaz will be performing a demonstration at this year’s Southern Championships in Portsmouth on Saturday, 6th April.
This demo will be an amazing start the the day and you will have the opportunity to meet them both and have photos taken with them.

The first coloured belt grading for us and what a fantastic day it was! 79 students nervously stepped into the hall and 79 came out all smiles after really impressing Mr Cox the examiner. I am so proud of you all for all the hard work and dedication you have shown so far this year. Keep it up!
I would like to say a huge thank you to the MF Kent Instructing Team and all the Junior Instructors who came along to help out, guide, motivate and calm everyone. You continued support and loyalty is hugely appreciated and grading days would not be the same without you.
Finally, a big thank you to all the wonderful parents, families and friends who came along to support and watch the Master-classes. It was such a warm and positive atmosphere all day and reminds me how lucky I am to head such a special Martial Arts Family.
CELEBRATIONS
To celebrate the successes of everyone at the grading be sure to bring along friends and family to watch our belt presentations and perhaps even join in the fun!

Congratulations to the team of students who headed to Swindon for the first Panel Grading of 2013. It was certainly a challenging test but after working so hard for the last few weeks I am pleased to announce that everyone from MF Kent passed with flying colours.

After the huge excitement at last year’s gradings and Master-classes with Mr Cox we are very pleased to announce that he is returning in March.
Following on from each colourbelt grading Mr Cox from Swindon will be running a special class (Master-class) which is open to every student whether they are grading or not. Please note that these special classes will replace the normal classes in Chilham and Canterbury for that day only.
Here are the times:
Mighty Matt Master-class: 10:45am
Junior & Adult Master-class: 12:30pm
Leadership Masterclass: 1:15pm
Everything will be held at Simon Langton Boys School (Sports Centre), CT4 7AS.
REMEMBER:
– Master-classes open to all students from all MF Kent Schools (whether grading or not)
– Master-classes will replace the normal classes held in Chilham & Canterbury for that day only

Mighty Matts:
– Grading Invite letter (handed out in class or you can download)
– Mighty Matt Homework Sheet (download from website)
Juniors:
– Grading Invite letter (handed out in class or you can download)
– Intent to Promote Form (download from website)
– Homework sheet (download from website – each belt will have a different sheet File Name e.g. Purple to Yellow)
Adults:
– Grading Invite letter (handed out in class or you can download)

As part of their multi-cultural week we were invited to teach Martial Arts to all the children at Marden Primary School today (11th February 2012) as well as talk to the children about the history of Martial Arts.
We had so much fun and it was fantastic to see all the children being so enthusiastic about Martial Arts.
