2023 British Championships – register now

Not long now until the biggest championships of the year – the 2023 British Championships. This will no doubt prove to be another day of nail-biting action so now is the time to start book your place and practice, practice, practice.

This event is open to all age groups and belt levels with categories available for:

  • Hand-drills
  • Kick-boxing drill
  • Sparring
  • Forms (traditional & musical)
  • Board breaking
  • Kicking combos

For those interested, we will be working on championship practice in class, however we strongly recommend attending the extra sessions we have put on to help fine-tune your categories and ensure everyone is competition ready:

  • Sunday, 1st Oct
  • Sunday, 8th Oct

Colour-belt Grading Info – 28th March 2021

We are very excited to announce the details for the first Grading day of 2021. After a long and, at times, challenging lock-down, we are so pleased to be able to offer our students the opportunity to show their skills after working so hard online.

Will I / my little one be Grading?

If we feel it is the right time we will invite you / your little one to the Grading via text message. This message will detail where to find all the information needed.

How do we confirm our place?

Your space is confirmed by paying online. By paying online you are acknowledging that you have read and understood all the paperwork.

Where do we find the information?

All the files that you need to read can be found:

How do we pay for the Grading?

Payment for the Grading is made online – details of which are on the paperwork. We will confirm receipt of payment via text which will include the Zoom password and details.

Is the Grading online?

Yes, we will send you the password etc upon receipt of payment.

How can we practice to prepare for the Grading?

February 100k Challenge

GOAL

  • To complete 100,000 kicks before 10pm on 28th February 2021 as a team

WHO CAN TAKE PART?

  • This is open to all students and families – the more the merrier

HOW DO WE REGISTER?

  • To take part simply send the names of everyone taking part to Master Finch (07980308952 or kent@mattfiddes.com).  If you are taking part as a family please send your family name (you can give yourself a team name if you wish!)

HOW DO WE RECORD THE KICKS?

  • All kicks must be performed either on a pad / cushion
  • All kicks must be at least waist height
  • You must put your foot on the ground after each kick
  • You can perform any kick you wish
  • You add both your left and right leg together for everyone taking part
  • Kicks that are performed in our Martial Arts classes do not count towards the total
  • Text or e-mail your daily total to Master Finch

HOW DO WE KNOW THE TOTAL?

  • Each day we will post online (Facebook) the running total and who has the highest individual / family total. 

PRIZE FOR THE HIGHEST TOTAL…

  • There is a prize for the individual or family who record the highest number of kicks

Championship success

International Championships 2020 – Bath University

After months of preparation, hard work, highs and lows we finally made the journey to Bath for the Matt Fiddes International Championships.  This was the biggest and most exciting championships to date with over 650 competitors from as far afield as Australia!

We may have been small in number but the spirit with which we competed was outstanding.  There were some excellent performances across the board and I think it is true to say that each and every team member did their very best.

As usual, out intrepid team of parents, friends and Instructors were incredible and a huge part of the MF Kent Team success.  Thank you one and all.

Classes – school holidays (21st~27th Oct)

All classes are running as normal this week (21st – 27th Oct) and we look forward to seeing you all there.

Staplehurst Classes

These will now run from the PRIMARY SCHOOL during the school holidays at the following times:

  • 4:00pm : Mighty Matts & Juniors
  • 4:45pm : Seniors
  • 5:45 – 6:30pm : Black Belt Class

Due to the International Championships and National Instructor Training there will be no classes on the following dates:

  • 7th Nov: Staplehurst
  • 8th Nov: Maidstone
  • 9th Nov: Broomfield
  • 10th Nov: Canterbury

There is still time to enter the International Championships (9th Nov, Bath).  If you are interested or just curious please speak to your Instructor asap.

NEW SCHOOL HOLIDAY VENUE

Thursday, 24th October 2019

Usually, we move our classes to the Village Centre during the school holidays.  However, I am delighted to say that we will now be staying at the Primary School .

We will keep to the earlier timetable with a couple of small changes:

  • 4:00 – 4:45pm – Mighty Matts & Juniors
  • 4:45 – 5:45pm – Seniors
  • 5:45 – 6:30pm – Black Belt class

All classes will remain in the Junior Hall.

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY

Due to the International Championships being held in Bath as well as National Instructor Training over this period there will be no classes on Thursday, 7th November 2019.
